Our next event will be a photo safari to Albion Falls in Hamilton Ontario. Shawn was very happy about this since it is right in his backyard. I just found out from my cousin Lisa that Hamilton is the waterfall capitol of the world. Albion Falls is one of the most beautiful of the bunch. Really looking forward to taking some long exposures and maybe a time lapse with my Michron device.
So I decided to take a scouting trip today to see how far away it was and any issues we may have for Saturday since I have never been there. It is beautiful but it is a bit of steep walk down to the base with danger signs at the top of each section. One issue we will have for photos are the number of people playing in the waterfall, I would recommend an earlier start so we can avoid this. Also because of the hike down, I would bring a comfortable camera bag (backpack recommended), hiking shoes and possibly a change of shoes and clothes for the day (you may want to go for dip in the falls or just shoot up close). Look below for direction and watch the video I took today to give you an idea what it’s like. I initially parked passed the falls but realized this was a mistake a drove back to the other parking lot across the street. We should meet there.
Here are the details:
Date: Saturday July 5, 2014
Time: 9:00 am
Meeting Location: Parking lot on the left side of the road just before the falls.
Gear: Bring your camera, tripod, ND filters and any other cool stuff to get the shot with… 🙂
